Executive Unit Director in Aden Discusses Displacement Management with Dar Saad District Chief

The Director General of the Executive Unit for IDPs in the capital Aden, Mohammed Nasser Al-Soufi, discussed on Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, with the Director General of Dar Saad District and Chairman of the Local Council, Aboud Naji Hussein, the situation of displaced persons residing in camps and houses within the district, during a meeting held at the district’s headquarters.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the Executive Unit, Ali Abdullah Ahmed Al-Nimr, the legal advisor Nasser Al-Ja’dani, along with the Commander of the Seventh Security Zone, Brigadier General Saleh Sa’idah Al-Hazmi, and the Head of Community Committees in Dar Saad, Brigadier General Jalal Ali Yahya.

At the outset of the meeting, Aboud Naji welcomed the Executive Unit’s Director and his delegation, reiterating his call to regulate the displacement process in Dar Saad District and to establish dedicated IDP camps outside the city. He also congratulated Mohammed Nasser Mohammed Al-Soufi on his appointment as Director General of the Executive Unit for IDPs in Aden, praising the confidence granted to him by Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, as successor to the late Dr. Salem Nasser Sarea, the former Executive Unit Director.

The district chief emphasized: “We appreciate the circumstances that forced these people to leave their areas, but we stress that establishing special shelter camps outside the city, as is the case in Kharaz and in areas of Al-Khokha and Al-Mokha, will facilitate their registration, ensure their care, guarantee the smooth delivery of services and humanitarian aid, as well as enable investigation of any violations that may occur and provide them with full protection.”

The meeting also discussed ways of enhancing coordination between the local authority, the Executive Unit, and security agencies, stressing the importance of providing the district’s local authority with statistics and data on IDPs in order to monitor their conditions and address their challenges in a timely manner.

According to the Executive Unit’s data, the number of displaced families in Dar Saad District stands at 9,854 families, totaling 78,342 individuals, with IDPs from Hodeidah Governorate making up 80% of them, in addition to those arriving from Taiz, Hajjah, Al-Bayda, and other governorates under Houthi militia control. They are distributed across around 13 camps within the district, alongside thousands of IDPs residing in houses.
