Executive Unit Warns of Deteriorating Crisis for 51,000 Displaced Persons Across Six Yemeni Governorates, Calls for Urgent Interventio

Yemen’s Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management released an updated humanitarian report on September 10, 2026, documenting 7,348 displaced families(comprising 51,436 individuals) across six governorates (Al-Hodeidah, Taiz, Lahj, Aden, Abyan, and Shabwah) due to ongoing military escalation, shelling, and heightened security risks up to September 9, 2026.

The breakdown highlights Taiz Governorate as hosting the largest displaced population with 4,976 families (34,832 individuals), followed by Al-Hodeidah with 1,471 families (10,297 individuals), Lahj (557 families), Abyan (228 families), Aden (104 families), and Shabwah (12 families).

The report emphasizes a critical relief gap, noting that families left behind their homes and livelihoods without access to basic necessities. In Aden, no sectoral response was recorded for the 104 newly arrived families (57 of whom are residing informally with host families). Similarly, in Al-Hodeidah, only 35 food-related interventions were registered against 1,471 displaced families.

The Executive Unit issued an urgent appeal to international donors, UN agencies, and humanitarian partners to mobilize resources for life-saving assistance in shelter, food, water, sanitation, and healthcare. It urged organizations to initiate immediate relief operations alongside sector assessments—rather than waiting for evaluations to finalize—to prevent further suffering.
