Executive Unit Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Crisis: Nearly 77,789 Individuals Displaced Across 6 Liberated Governorates Due to Military Escalation
The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management in Yemen has issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to international organizations and donor agencies, calling for immediate intervention to assist 11,096 displaced families (comprising 77,789 individuals) forced to flee their homes due to ongoing military escalation and active fighting through 11-September 2026.
According to the unified update report, displacement has affected six governorates, with Taiz recording the highest influx at 6,436 families, followed by Lahj (2,338 families), Al-Hudaydah (1,471 families), alongside the interim capital Aden, Abyan, and Shabwah.
The Executive Unit emphasized that displaced families are living under extremely harsh conditions and lack basic necessities, with emergency shelter, food supplies, safe drinking water, and essential health services listed as top priorities.
The statement calls upon humanitarian partners and UN agencies to deliver immediate, life-saving aid without delaying operations for detailed evaluations, while giving utmost priority to vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
