The Executive Unit Warns of Exacerbating Displacement Crisis Across 5 Governorates and Issues an Urgent Appeal for Relief

The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management in Yemen revealed that forced displacement resulting from military escalation, bombardment, and deteriorating security conditions has risen to 6,269 families (comprising 44,149 individuals) across five governorates (Taiz, Al Hodeidah, Lahj, Aden, and Abyan) as of September 8, 2026.

The unified humanitarian report issued by the Executive Unit confirmed that ongoing military actions and clashes have forced thousands of families into sudden flight, leaving behind their homes, belongings, and livelihoods in search of safety. These families arrived in host areas lacking the bare minimum of basic necessities, including food, shelter, and clean water.

Severe Gaps and Lack of Response The Executive Unit warned of a critical humanitarian gap, specifically pointing out that no sectoral response was recorded for the 104 newly displaced families in Aden Governorate up to the date of the report, with 57 of these families residing with host families under extremely dire conditions. The report also documented severe shortages in tents, shelter materials, safe drinking water, food and cash assistance, and basic health services.

Urgent Relief Appeal The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management appealed to local authorities, UN agencies, international and local organizations, and donors for immediate and swift intervention to mobilize resources and deliver life-saving relief assistance. It emphasized the necessity of providing emergency aid alongside field assessments, urging against any delay in intervention to avert a deeper humanitarian catastrophe.
