Updated Humanitarian Report: Forced Displacement Rises Across 10 Yemeni Governorates to Over 169,000 Individuals Amid Urgent Calls for Intervention

The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management in Yemen, in its latest unified report issued on September 22, 2026, reported the continuation of forced displacement waves resulting from military escalation, shelling, and deteriorating security conditions. According to updated field data through September 21, 2026, the total number of registered displaced families across 10 governorates has risen to 25,116 families, comprising 169,074 individuals.

Taiz Governorate tops the list of host governorates with 12,610 families (88,324 individuals) distributed across 15 districts, followed by Lahj Governorate, which received 5,625 families (39,375 individuals) across 9 districts. In the temporary capital, Aden, field teams recorded the arrival of 3,114 families (15,003 individuals) spread over 8 districts amid operational constraints and field challenges facing tracking efforts, while camps in the Hays and Zinjibar districts of Abyan Governorate received 1,562 families (10,934 individuals). Meanwhile, Al Hodeidah Governorate recorded 1,471 families (10,297 individuals) in Hays and Khawkhah districts, with secondary displacement movements observed for some of these families toward Aden.

In other governorates, Marib recorded 412 families (2,884 individuals) distributed across Marib City, Marib Al Wadi, and Harib, while Hadramout hosts 148 families (1,036 individuals) in Al Mukalla, Ash Shihr, and Ar Raydah Wa Qusayar. Al Mahrah recorded 111 families (777 individuals) in Al Ghaydah and Shahan. Al Dhale’e reported a displacement network of 37 families (262 individuals) in Qatabah district, and finally, Shabwah Governorate hosts 26 families (182 individuals) in Ain, Mayfa’ah, and Usaylan districts.

The report emphasized that most of these families were forced to flee suddenly without minimum access to shelter, food, or livelihoods, compounding suffering, particularly for those living with host families or in informal settlements. Immediate priorities currently focus on providing shelter and housing services, securing food security, clean drinking water, and sanitation projects, as well as delivering health and protection services and referring the most vulnerable cases—including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. In light of this critical humanitarian situation, the Executive Unit renewed its urgent appeal to UN agencies, international and national organizations, and donors to mobilize resources and intervene immediately to deliver life-saving aid and prevent further widening of the humanitarian gap.Consolidated Report on War-Related Forced Displacement up to 21 September 2026
