Executive Unit Report Tracks Rise in Displaced Persons Across 10 Yemen Governorates to Over 186,000, Calls for Urgent Humanitarian Response

The Executive Unit for the Management of IDP Camps in Yemen has released its updated unified report on forced displacement movements and emergency humanitarian needs through September 27, 2026. The report revealed a continuous rise in the number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across 10 Yemeni governorates, reaching 27,834 families comprising 186,144 individuals.

The report noted that military escalation, shelling, and deteriorating security conditions have driven ongoing waves of civilian displacement in search of safety. It highlighted that Taiz Governorate topped the list with the largest number of displaced persons, totaling 13,925 families (97,529 individuals), followed by Lahj Governorate with 5,884 families (41,188 individuals), and the temporary capital, Aden, with 3,741 families (17,782 individuals).

Furthermore, the report documented increasing numbers of displaced persons across the remaining covered governorates. Abyan recorded 1,923 families, Marib 412 families, Ad Dali’ 240 families, and Al Hodeidah 1,471 families (per the latest available update), alongside additional displaced families registered in Al Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwah.

The Executive Unit warned of a worsening critical humanitarian situation and severe living conditions confronting displaced families. It emphasized substantial and expanding gaps in essential needs, specifically concerning emergency shelter, food assistance, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), healthcare, and protection.

In conclusion, the Executive Unit renewed its urgent appeal to all UN agencies, international and local non-governmental organizations, and donor entities to intervene swiftly and mobilize resources.
