Executive Unit Report Tracks Rise in Forcefully Displaced Persons to Over 180,000, Urges Urgent Intervention.
The Executive Unit for the Management of IDP Camps issued its consolidated report, updated through September 23, 2026. The report reveals that the total number of families forcibly displaced due to military escalation has risen to 27,413 families (comprising 180,513 individuals) spread across ten Yemeni governorates. Taiz Governorate topped the list of host regions, recording 13,409 families (93,917 individuals), followed by Lahj with 5,782 families, Aden with 3,741 families, Abyan with 2,157 families, and Al Hodeidah with 1,471 families—some of which experienced new displacement waves toward Aden. Additionally, hundreds of other families were recorded in the governorates of Marib, Al Dhalea, Al Mahrah, Hadramout, and Shabwah.
The report highlighted that the sudden and forced nature of the displacement prevented most families from securing their basic needs, leading to a widening humanitarian gap and a decline in the host communities’ capacity to respond. Field assessments revealed severe and critical shortages in emergency shelter supplies, food items, clean drinking water, and sanitation and hygiene services, alongside a deterioration in healthcare and protection services aimed at the most vulnerable groups, such as children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
In light of this worsening situation, the Executive Unit issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to local authorities, international and UN organizations, and donors to swiftly provide life-saving assistance and activate rapid response mechanisms without delay. It emphasized the utmost importance of providing food baskets, emergency shelter, and direct cash assistance, in addition to supporting the water, health, and basic services sectors in new displacement sites and settlements to alleviate the suffering of those affected and preserve their human dignity.Consolidated Report on War-Related Forced Displacement up to 23 September 2026
