Executive Unit Report Tracks the Expansion of Displacement Across 8 Governorates to Over 146,000 Displaced Individuals and Calls for Urgent Humanitarian Response.

The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management launched an urgent humanitarian appeal to international organizations and donor agencies to mobilize resources and intervene swiftly. It announced the documented displacement of 21,583 families—comprising a total of 146,943 individuals—due to ongoing military escalation, security conditions, and escalating risks to civilians.

In its consolidated report released today, the Executive Unit explained that these comprehensive statistics track the dynamics and impacts of forced displacement documented up to September 18, 2026. The report covers eight governorates: Taiz, Lahj, Aden, Al Hodeidah, Abyan, Hadramout, Al Mahrah, and Shabwah.

The report highlighted that Taiz Governorate topped the list of host governorates with the highest displacement rates, recording 11,534 families (80,792 individuals) across 15 districts. It was followed by Lahj Governorate with a total of 5,472 families (38,304 individuals) across 9 districts. In Aden Governorate, the arrival of 1,622 families (7,162 individuals) was recorded, most of whom settled with host families across various districts.

Furthermore, the report recorded 1,471 families (10,297 individuals) in the Hays and Al Khawkhah districts of Al Hodeidah Governorate, and 1,278 families (8,946 individuals) in Abyan Governorate, distributed across camps in Khanfir and Zinjibar. Additional newly displaced families were registered in Hadramout (110 families), Al Mahrah(70 families), and Shabwah (26 families).

According to the humanitarian report, most displaced families are living in severe conditions following the sudden loss of their homes, livelihoods, and assets. They face critical gaps and pressing needs in key sectors, including emergency shelter, food, clean drinking water, sanitation, healthcare, and protection for children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

In its closing appeal, the Executive Unit emphasized the vital need to deliver immediate lifesaving assistance alongside sector-specific assessments.
