Urgent Humanitarian Appeal to Relieve and Respond to the Needs of Over 122,000 IDPs Across 8 Governorates
The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management in Yemen reported a significant increase in forced displacement waves due to recent events and deteriorating security conditions for civilians. According to the unified displacement report up to mid-September, a total of 17,852 displaced families—comprising 122,297 individuals—have been recorded across eight governorates: Taiz, Lahj, Al Hodeidah, Aden, Abyan, Hadramout, Al Mahrah, and Shabwah.
The report highlighted that Taiz registered the highest number of displaced families at 9,562, followed by Lahj with 4,511 families, as well as Al Hodeidah and Aden. The majority of families were forced to abruptly abandon their homes, property, and livelihoods, entering a cycle of severe hardship without basic life necessities.
In response, the Executive Unit issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to UN agencies, international and local organizations, and donors to mobilize immediate life-saving interventions. Priority sectors include emergency shelter, food, water and sanitation (WASH), health services, and protection.
