More than 95,000 Displaced Across 6 Governorates: Yemen’s Executive Unit Issues Urgent Emergency Appeal for IDP Relief

Yemen’s Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management has issued an urgent humanitarian distress appeal to UN agencies, international and local organizations, and donor entities amid a widespread wave of forced displacement caused by escalating bombardment, clashes, and deteriorating security conditions.

A report released by the Executive Unit—documenting displacement movements through September 13, 2026—revealed that the number of registered Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across six liberated governorates (Taiz, Lahj, Hodeidah, Aden, Abyan, and Shabwah) has reached 13,980 families, comprising approximately 95,324 individuals.

Taiz Governorate topped the list of host regions with 7,782 families (54,643 individuals), followed by Lahj with 2,715 families, Hodeidah with 1,471 families, and Aden with 1,180 families, alongside hundreds of families in Abyan and Shabwah.

The report highlighted that thousands of families were forced into sudden flight, abandoning their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. They are now enduring harsh conditions, lacking the barest necessities such as shelter, food, safe drinking water, healthcare services, and protection. Furthermore, hundreds of families are relying on host communities that are themselves struggling under severe economic and living strain.

The Executive Unit emphasized the vital need for immediate on-the-ground action to deliver life-saving relief and financial assistance. It urged humanitarian organizations to initiate urgent response efforts concurrently with needs assessments, prioritizing the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.Consolidated Report on War-Related Forced Displacement- Up to 13 September 2026
