Executive Unit Warns of Deteriorating Humanitarian Situation: Over 86,415 Individuals Displaced Across 6 Liberated Governorates Due to Military Escalation

The Executive Unit for IDP Camps Management has launched an urgent humanitarian appeal to international organizations and donors for immediate intervention and relief assistance for 12,597 displaced families (comprising 86,415 individuals). These families were forced to flee due to ongoing military escalation and conflict up to September 12, 2026.

The consolidated updated report highlighted that displacement waves covered six governorates, led by Taiz with 7,186 families (50,454 individuals), followed by Lahj(2,540 families – 17,780 individuals), and Al Hodeidah (1,471 families – 10,297 individuals), in addition to the temporary capital Aden (815 families – 3,789 individuals), Abyan (573 families – 4,011 individuals), and Shabwah (12 families – 84 individuals).

The Executive Unit confirmed that displaced families are living under extremely harsh conditions and lack basic necessities, with their most pressing needs prioritized in emergency shelter, food, safe drinking water, health services, sanitation, and protection.

The Executive Unit called upon humanitarian partners and UN agencies to deliver immediate, life-saving response without waiting for detailed sector assessments, with a primary focus on protecting the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
